Types of Dental Prosthetics
The most popular types of dental restorations include:
- Ceramic Veneers – Thin shells placed on front teeth, most often used to correct tooth color and shape. Their main advantage is that natural teeth remain intact and nerves do not need to be removed.
- Crowns – “Caps” that cover the visible part of a tooth above the gum line and are fixed with special dental cement. In many cases, crowns are the only way to extend the life of a natural tooth.
- Dental Bridges
Fixed prosthetic structures attached to adjacent teeth using crowns, posts, or inlays. They can be made from the same materials as crowns. - Clasp Dentures – Removable dentures used when bridges or implants are not suitable due to medical or anatomical reasons. These constructions feature a one-piece metal framework.
- Zirconia Crowns – Used when natural teeth are damaged, improperly shaped, in cases of congenital enamel defects, or when other types of prosthetics cannot be applied.
- Removable Acrylic Dentures – One of the most affordable dental prosthetic options. Suitable for both partial and complete tooth loss. They can be used at any age and closely resemble natural teeth in color.
Materials Used:
- Metal-Ceramic Restorations: A metal framework covered with ceramic. Strong and suitable for both front and chewing teeth. Over time, slight gum darkening may occur due to long-term contact with metal.
- All-Ceramic Restorations: Perfectly imitate the natural aesthetics of teeth and have a lighter, more natural structure.
In this article, we have introduced the most common types of dental prosthetics available today. You can visit our clinic to discuss the options, but please note that the final decision will be made by the dentist after a professional examination and diagnostics.
How Long Does Dental Prosthetic Treatment Take?
The production of permanent dental prosthetics may take several weeks to a few months. During this period, temporary restorations are usually provided. Final decisions regarding the type of prosthetic solution are always made by the dentist after professional examination and diagnostics.
Testimonials
I visited the clinic with severe tooth pain and was diagnosed with pulpitis. The treatment was handled with great care and professionalism. I truly appreciate the doctor and the staff for their excellent work. If you’re in Prague, I highly recommend this clinic.
I was visiting relatives in Prague, a beautiful city, but my trip was slightly disrupted by a small dental issue when a piece of my tooth chipped off. At first, I planned to wait and get treatment at home, but I decided not to delay and visited a local dental clinic. I was recommended Dr. Anton Slupický’s clinic, and the fact that he was from my home country immediately caught my attention.
My tooth was restored using high-quality composite materials, it looks exactly as it did before, and the repaired area is completely invisible. The treatment was painless, and I’m very happy to have been in the hands of a qualified dentist in a foreign city. I would definitely recommend this clinic.
I was in Prague only for a short visit when I suddenly developed a toothache. I came to this dental clinic, where they removed the nerve, treated the root canals, and placed a filling. The doctor did an excellent job, my tooth no longer hurts.
